NILE and the University of Chichester are proud to announce that the 2025 full scholarship on the NILE MA in Professional Development for Language Education (MAPDLE), validated by the University of Chichester, is awarded to Fatma Rashad.
As always, a very high standard of applications for the scholarship was received. What impressed the award committee about Fatma’s application was her wide-ranging experience in a number of key roles within the Egyptian education system. She demonstrates a commitment to growth at both local and strategic levels and is able to articulate her own career development intentions with an impressive clarity. She is also able to evidence her on-going successful study outcomes and achievements, that suggest she will engage with an MA-level study fruitfully.
Upon receiveing the news, Fatma said:
I am really grateful and pleased to have been awarded the Masters in Professional Development for Language Education scholarship. This opportunity marks a significant milestone in my professional journey, and I am sincerely thankful to NILE and the University of Chichester for believing in my potential. I believe that doing the MA will allow me to broaden my knowledge and learn techniques and strategies which would enable me to do my job more effectively and support teachers in my country and region better.
Although I wasn’t lucky enough to work closely with Erica Dirou, I can never forget that she was the first to encourage me to deliver a training session on one of our training days. Back then I wasn’t as experienced and I wondered if I was ready. Right after the session lots of the attendees told me that one day I would be a Teacher Trainer and here I am.
I really hope that I would continue to support teachers with realising their potential and developing their skills.
The Erica Dirou scholarship is awarded each calendar year to an English Language Teacher or Teacher Trainer working in Egypt, in memory of our outstanding alumna Erica Dirou (pictured above, private photo).
