Erasmus+ Teacher Training Courses in the UK (From 2027)

The UK is expected to rejoin the Erasmus+ programme, meaning ELT professionals from across Europe will once again be able to access Erasmus+ staff mobility funding for teacher training courses in the UK from 1 January 2027.

For more than 25 years, NILE welcomed thousands of Erasmus+-funded course participants until the UK left the scheme in 2021. With values that align closely with the core principles of the Erasmus+ programme - particularly in the areas of international collaboration and exchange, innovation in teaching and learning, and lifelong learning and professional growth – we’re excited to open our doors to teachers from across Europe once again.

Whilst Erasmus+ and the UK Government are yet to reveal definitive information and instructions, here’s what we know so far.

Planning for Erasmus+ Teacher Mobility Funding

Applications for Erasmus+ staff mobility funding are made by schools, universities and education organisations, rather than individual teachers. Although the UK is expected to participate again from 2027, institutions can begin planning now by:

  • Identifying professional development needs for staff
  • Exploring Erasmus+ mobility projects
  • Partnering with experienced training providers such as NILE
Early preparation will help organisations maximise future Erasmus+ opportunities.
