NILE and the University of Chichester are proud to announce that the 2023 full scholarship on the NILE MA in Professional Development for Language Education (MAPDLE), validated by the University of Chichester, is awarded to Hamed Shiref Alasmar.

As in previous years, there was a very high standard of applications for the scholarship. What impressed the award committee about Hamed’s application was how well he communicated his passion for language education, as well as his very strong drive for further professional development. The award committee is confident that the knowledge, skills and experience Hamed will gain from the MA can also have a beneficial impact on the people he works with in Egypt.

On receiving news of his successful application, Hamed promised to ‘make the most of this privilege, striving for excellence in my studies and contributing meaningfully to my field’.

Here is Hamed's full statement:

I am immensely grateful for being selected as a recipient of the Erica Dirou scholarship. Your belief in my potential means the world to me. This scholarship will not only alleviate the financial burden but also empower me to pursue my academic goals with dedication and focus. I promise to make the most of this privilege, striving for excellence in my studies and contributing meaningfully to my field. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this incredible honour.

The Erica Dirou scholarship is awarded each calendar year to an English Language Teacher or Teacher Trainer working in Egypt, in memory of our outstanding alumna Erica Dirou (pictured above, private photo).
