We were delighted to recently welcome trainee teachers from the Private University College of Teacher Education Augustinum (Private Pädagogische Hochschule Augustinum) in Graz, Austria, to NILE for two weeks of English language learning, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology training, visits to local primary schools, a rich cultural and social programme and the opportunity to discover all that Norwich has to offer.
Carole Robinson, NILE Course Coordinator commented:
"It was great to see our trainee teachers from Graz getting the most out of their CLIL course - learning by doing and being so engaged!"
Following their visit, coordinator Marie-Theres shared her thanks with the NILE team:
“We just had our reflection online meeting this morning and they were thrilled about their time in Norwich. Thank you for making this happen and letting it work so smoothly!”.
Here are some selected comments from the trainees.
- "I improved my English skills, I learned a lot of new forms and methods of how to teach children in CLIL lessons".
- "All in all I liked my stay [in Norwich] a lot and I think especially in NILE everyone was so welcoming and friendly and did their best to give us a good time".
- "I know what CLIL is and how to use it in class and I got more confident speaking English".
- "The course centre was very good to get to it. I also liked the social program very much".
We are already preparing for the next group to come in 2027, and would welcome any expressions of interest from other teacher education institutions from Europe and beyond, with Erasmus+ funding or not!
