Wendy Coulson

Wendy Coulson completed master’s degrees in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and in Bilingual K-12 Education with a concentration in Special Education. She has significant experience as a classroom teacher and as an ELT consultant trainer and materials developer in Central and South Asia, Central and South American, West Africa and the Middle East.

She has been a training consultant with NILE for both online and face-to-face teacher training programmes. Her latest project with NILE was with the two-year AELLCA (Accelerated English Language Learning in Central Asia) project. In this role, she co-developed and co-taught on a 10-day course writing training for classroom teachers in Kazakhstan, mentoring a primary school group to fully develop their professional development programme.

In addition to consulting with NILE, Wendy has also consulted with the British Council, American Councils for International Education, TESOL International Association, the U.S. Department of State’s English Language Programs and UN Women in Timor-Leste. Her latest work has centered around teacher training and curriculum development in Teaching English to Young Learners and Very Young Learners. She is consulting with the U.S Embassy and the Ministry of Education in Senegal on their pilot English for preschool and primary program.

Wendy is also interested in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship, earning a certificate from the Earth Charter Institute in ESD. She also developed and facilitated a course in Environmental Sustainability for TESOL International Association in India.
