Laura PatskoNILE Consultant Trainer
Laura is a learning experience designer, consultant, researcher, teacher and trainer. After gaining her BA in Linguistics from the University of Reading, she began her ELT career with a CELTA and later a Delta, both while teaching at IH Prague. She later became a trainer herself on the similar Trinity courses (CertTESOL and DipTESOL), as well as gaining an MA in ELT & Applied Linguistics from King’s College London.
In addition to teaching and training, Laura’s learning design work includes advising on instructional methods and techniques, conducting and reviewing research into the effectiveness of materials and methods, observing the use of resources by both learners and teachers, and assessing the impact of such resources and approaches. She specializes in ILXD (inclusive learning experience design), in teaching/learning in low-resource contexts, and in language learning and communication in diverse cultural and international settings, particularly the pronunciation of English in lingua franca contexts. She has written or contributed to numerous articles and books on these topics – see Laura's online portfolio for examples.
Outside work, you’ll probably find her doing crafts, hiking up mountains, learning a new language or training her awesome little dog, Hero.
