Fiona Mauchline

Fiona is a teacher, trainer, writer and consultant based in Oxford. She is currently a member of the teaching staff at Hertford College, Oxford University, but also lived and taught in Spain for 30 years, before her return to the UK.

She is the published author of secondary coursebooks, including Motivate (co-authored with fellow NILE Consultant, Emma Heyderman), All Clear and Dive In!, and of resources including ETpedia Vocabulary and How to Write Secondary Materials. She is also co-founder of EVE: Equal Voices in ELT.

As well as her current role with Oxford University, she has taught ELT Materials Writing as part of the MA TESOL for Oxford Brookes University. She has also trained legal, literary and academic translators, as well as mainstream secondary and primary teachers in many countries, and has worked for the British Council, International House and various universities.

Her professional interests include secondary education, neuroscience and cognitive development in ages 12-27, projects, motivation, CLIL, materials writing, vocabulary teaching and creative writing.

She is the writer of screenplays and short fiction, a keen photographer and painter, and is always happy when on, in or near the water.
