This 6-unit course explores all four IELTS papers, looking at the different exam tasks and the skills and sub-skills which are tested in them. You will also look at the speaking and writing test criteria in order to be better able to understand what is expected at each IELTS band and help your students to effectively prepare for these parts of the exam.

The course gives you as a teacher the chance to try out and reflect on a variety of classroom activities which prepare your learners for all aspects of the exam, including the acquisition of new vocabulary. The course also explores common teaching issues with IELTS classes, such as how to support learners of differing abilities.

All participants work on the same unit in the same week but there is a high level of flexibility within that time period to help you fit studying around your life and work. You need a computer, a headset (with microphone) and an Internet connection. Much of the course can be done on a mobile device, but a computer is needed for certain activities and tasks.

Lindsay is a teacher, trainer and materials writer. She has been teaching general English and exam preparation courses for over twenty years. She is a CELTA trainer and has delivered teacher development courses in the UK and abroad on topics such as train the trainer, using technology in the classroom and helping learners to prepare for exams.
She is co-author of several coursebooks including Expert IELTS 6 (Pearson), Gold Preliminary B1 (Pearson) and Skillful Reading & Writing level 4 (Macmillan).
