NILE and the University of Chichester are delighted to announce that the 2026 Erica Dirou Scholarship has been awarded to Iman Diaa Abdelmoniem Mohamed. While the applicant pool was exceptionally strong, Iman Diaa stood out through her sustained commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and her dedication to sharing her experience with teachers and colleagues at her own and partner academic institutions.

We look forward to working with Iman Diaa on the NILE MA programme, learning more about her educational context and how she will support its development.

On acceptance Iman said:

"I am thankful to have been chosen as the recipient of this year’s Masters in Professional Development for Language Education scholarship. This will be a new chapter in my professional career and I thank everyone at the University of Chichester and NILE for this valuable opportunity.

I was lucky and honored that Erica Dirou was my tutor, my mentor and most importantly one of my best friends. To be awarded her scholarship means more to me than I can say.

I am excited to continue growing as an educator and teacher trainer through this opportunity."

The Erica Dirou scholarship is awarded each calendar year to an English Language Teacher or Teacher Trainer working in Egypt, in memory of NILE MA alumna Erica Dirou (pictured above).
