Start your teaching journey. Take your first step into English language teaching - travel the world or teach online from anywhere in the world. The CELTA course offers practical, initial training in teaching English as a foreign language. The Online CELTA is delivered full time in an online learning environment, providing an opportunity for an international group of candidates. Your teaching practice will be live with your tutor observing you and learners who can be from all over the world, whereas your training, or input sessions will be a mix of online study, live, online events and tutor support. During input sessions you will find out more about how the English language works, in terms of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, as well as learn about practical teaching methodology (how to set up a classroom, best use the resources at your disposal, deal with different learners, give correction and so on). These sessions aim to help you with your teaching practice. In addition to input sessions, you will do at least six hours' teaching practice and observe six hours of lessons from experienced teachers. After each teaching session you will be given detailed feedback on your performance, and you will be given an opportunity to comment, reflect on and learn from the lesson observations.
Further InformationCandidates are assessed continuously during the course and there is no final examination. An external assessor, appointed by Cambridge English, moderates each course. Completion of the course does not guarantee the award of the Certificate. There are two components of assessment: teaching practice and written assignments. To be awarded the certificate candidates must pass both components. There are three grades: Pass, Pass B and Pass A. When we receive your completed application form we will contact you for your CV and to submit your Application Task focussing on previous language teaching/learning experience, language analysis (please see example question below) and reasons for taking CELTA. Kateryna has been in ELT for over 15 years. She has taught English, managed a number of language schools and teacher training centres, and co-authored an exam prep course book for state school-leaving exams in Ukraine. But her passion has always been with teacher training, which is why she has spent a big part of her career working as a CELTA and DELTA trainer in different countries, including Hungary, Turkey, Lebanon, Thailand, Italy, the UK, Greece, Azerbaijan, Ukraine etc. These days she is working as a Head of Tutors at Promova, where she is managing live online lessons. Outside work, Kateryna loves sport, especially jogging, travelling and learning new things.
