Sandie Mourão

Sandie has worked as a trainer with NILE since 2006 and developed the online course, Teaching English in Pre-Primary Education (TEPPE). She is also a tutor and a dissertation supervisor on the NILE / Chichester MA programme.

Sandie has an MA in TESOL and a PhD in didactics and teacher education. Both her MA dissertation and PhD thesis involved research in pre-primary contexts. She is presently a Research Fellow at Nova University Lisbon, Portugal and specialises in early years language education - pre-primary (ages 3 - 6 years) and primary (6 to 12 years) learners and their teachers. Her research interests include picturebooks in ELT, the intercultural dimension of language learning, assessment, teacher education for multilingual spaces and reflective practices.

Sandie has volunteered on committees for IATEFL, APPI and EECERA. She is also the co-founder of Picturebooks in European Primary English Language Teaching (PEPELT) a virtual community for practitioners. She contributes to the ELT research community with books, articles and chapters and is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at conferences around the world.
