Lisa Mann NILE

Lisa Mann holds two master’s degrees: one in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and another in Translation and Localisation. She has enjoyed a long career in the field of applied linguistics and over the years has worked as an English language teacher, translator, editor, programme coordinator, teacher trainer, and professional development facilitator in countries all over the world.

During her time in Peru, she worked with the Ministry of Education to develop the national curriculum for English for adult basic education under the country’s ‘English, Gateway to the World’ project and helped to create a cascading teacher training programme for English language teachers all over the country. In 2019, she served as an instructor and interim academic coordinator for Webster University’s newly established MA TESOL programme in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Two years later, she worked with the TESOL International Association to co-develop and co-deliver the blended TESOL Core Certificate Programme (TCCP) for Teaching and Assessing Adolescent Learners as part of Uzbekistan’s ‘English Speaking Nation’ initiative, a large-scale project designed to sharpen the skills of up to 15,000 secondary school English language teachers nationwide. She has since adapted the TCCP to better align with the contexts and needs of secondary school teachers in four different regions of India, where she continues to provide English teacher professional development on a yearly basis. She has worked as an English Language Specialist for the US Department of State on several occasions in Central Asia and is currently involved in several strands of NILE’s work with the British Council’s Accelerating Language Learning in Central Asia (AELLCA) project.

When she is not travelling, she lives and works from her home office in Tarragona, Spain.
