NILE works in partnership with education ministries, regional authorities and institutional partners around the world to design and deliver tailor-made programmes for teachers and trainers.
We have long-term collaborative partnerships going back to our early years, for example with education authorities in Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
As a specialist teacher development institute, we are able to offer tailor-made courses covering a wide range of key areas including EMI (English Medium Instruction), CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), language and methodology at all levels, literature and culture, materials development, testing, evaluation and assessment, technology-assisted language learning, as well as courses for vocational teachers of all kinds and a host of other training opportunities.
We are used to delivering tailor-made courses to agreed specifications, but also to designing courses to meet wider objectives in the context of national teacher training and trainer training projects, as well as for curriculum and institutional development.
NILE has particular expertise in managing and delivering large-scale programmes and has access to a strong group of consortium partners who collaborate with us to provide courses for major government-funded groups of teachers.
All NILE’s courses involve a significant element of English language improvement and/or development of language awareness. The minimum age for teacher development courses is 18. However, on most courses teaching experience is an advantage or requirement. For closed language development courses 16-18 year-olds can be enrolled by prior special arrangement.
NILE’s trainers have all been chosen for their qualifications, expertise and extensive experience in their specialised fields within ELT and language education. Many of NILE’s trainers have international reputations and are in regular demand to run projects and to speak at major conferences around the world.
Resourcing of the courses
NILE has two city centre course venues.
Hales Court House is a listed 16th century building in a quiet and beautiful city centre location just a few minutes’ walk from the vibrant heart of the city. The interior houses five classrooms, a computer centre and an extensive ELT library, whilst outside, a quiet garden provides a contemplative space in which to relax with course tutors and colleagues.
Our new teaching and learning centre, Delta House, is a brand new study facility to link with and complement Hales Court House. Delta House comprises 6 classrooms, an IT suite fully equipped with the latest teaching technology, a staff room and an attractive roof terrace where participants and staff on NILE courses can relax, socialise and network with their international colleagues.
Social and cultural programme
NILE has a team responsible for designing and running our social and cultural programmes. In addition to our generic programmes, tailor-made programmes can be provided to meet the needs and wishes of any particular group.
NILE can provide a range of accommodation to meet the needs both of individuals and groups. A dedicated accommodation team not only arrange accommodation, but are on hand to support participants during their stay in Norwich.
