Early this October NILE welcomed a group of 17 teachers from Zurich that came to Noriwch for a two-week CLIL (Content and Language Intergrated Learning) course. The training aimed to help them improve their levels of English for teaching purposes, although the participants do not strictly teach English, they teach a variety of subjects using English to speakers of other languages.

The majority of the course was spent at NILE's teacher training facility in the centre of Norwich, where the teachers completed their CLIL training with the accomplished NILE staff. The group also completed school placements relevant to their specialisms, to experience how their subjects are taught in English here in England.

The teachers also took part in NILE's social programme, where they attended various events including a Norwich City Football match and Norwich Ghost Walk, as well as day trips to lovely Southwold and historic Cambridge. The group of course also attended their welcome drinks and farewell tea as part of their two-week stay.

It would seem that the course was extremely beneficial for the Swiss teachers, who gave excellent feedback on both the academic and social aspects of their stay at NILE:

"We learned all needed skills to teach our subjects in English. Excellent teachers, flexible and sensible to the needs of us students."

"Thanks a lot to the two instructors who made an excellent job by teaching 17 teachers."

"I really like the city & the lot of options it offers."

"NILE staff has been really excellent."

We really enjoyed having this group here at NILE and are thrilled that they enjoyed themselves as much as we did!
