From January to March 2015, we had the pleasure of working with a group of 64 Peruvian Secondary School Teachers at NILE over 7 weeks of language development, teaching methodology, intercultural awareness and, of course, lots of fun.
Like all NILE courses the programme focussed on both professional and personal development. Classroom time was devoted to improving the teachers' English in all four skills and also identifying areas of pedagogy which would enable them to become better classroom practitioners on their return to Peru. Outside the classroom, they went on various trips to London, Cambridge, the Norfolk Coast and Stratford on Avon, on visits to local schools, and other cultural activties in and around Norwich.
Despite the rather chilly weather that greeted them plus the fact that this was the first time most of the participants had been outside Peru, course feedback on the experience was extremely positive. Here are some quotes:
It’s the best course I’ve ever taken - excellent teachers, excellent staff
Norwich is the best city in the U.K., safe, peaceful and beautiful
We learnt so much in NILE
They were excellent trainers….. Brilliant!
It was clear to all that the teachers had a life-changing experience that they would never forget. It was certainly an experience NILE trainers will always remember, particularly their warmth, motivation and positivity. We’ll also never forget their singing, dancing and their passion for English ‘gravy’! We hope to welcome their colleagues later this year.
