In July, we welcomed a group of 40 primary and secondary teachers as part of our long-running partnership with the Comunidad de Madrid. This four-week course was intended to improve the participants’ language own skills as well as develop their teaching methodology and competences related to the bilingual context. In addition, it was to provide knowledge and experience of the English education system. While here they built a portfolio of ideas and resources to share with other teachers in Madrid. They worked on a wide range of methodology and language areas as well as aspects of British Culture. They also spent six days on placement in two local schools and took away many ideas and techniques from this experience. They enjoyed a varied social programme which included our annual summer NILE’s Got Talent event, a trip to London and a Norwich Pub Tour and Quiz.
"It was a pleasure (hosting the teachers from Madrid). Everyone enjoyed the experience!"
Henri Harben, Cringleford Primary School.
"The Madrid visiting teachers offered their sincere thanks to all who supported them in the department. They were keen to express how welcome everyone made them feel both in and out of lessons. The insights and resources they take back to Spain they say will be invaluable in supporting their teaching as they move towards a system in which they teach only in English!"
