#35 'Civil Disobedience'
In an age when almost every official sign tells us what's prohibited or compulsory, a sign announcing that something is 'authorised' causes a double-take! I suspect that this sign may be less than 100% official, but its backing for civil disobedience is timely when protests against the established order are increasingly a feature of movements around the world. The Encyclopedia Britannica defines civel disobedience as "...refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition" - and it would certainly make for an interesting starting point for a lesson focusing on forms of protest, and what might be achieved by these means.
