#30 - Cultural abbreviations

When I saw this sign in the window of a shop at Norwich station I was struck by how much cultural and linguistic knowledge you need to read this piece of the linguistic landscape. There's not a word in the main text which isn't both abbreviated and dependent on quite specific cultural knowledge. Take a moment to see if you can work out what's being advertised here, then scroll on down for the answer...

The full text would be:
McVities Digestives / Rich Tea and Hob Nobs 750 gram packets.

If that's still not clear, you need to know that Digestives, Rich Tea and Hob Nobs are three types of biscuits made by McVities! How would you put this level of cultural and linguistic understanding on a CEFR scale?!

Location: Co-op, Norwich Railway Station.
