Following a language improvement and ELT management course at NILE in the early part of March for a small group of educational administrators from AVO Language and Examination Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria, later in the month this group was followed by a larger group of academic managers.
AVO are fellow-members of EAQUALS, and as soon as we began to explore key issues such as CPD, total quality management and staff appraisals, it was clear that we were working with professionals with whom we would be sharing common ideas and experiences. Unusually, rather than being taught by just a pair of tutors, the course involved input from NILE’s Business Development Director Sarah Mount, Director Thom Kiddle, Academic Managers Alan Mackenzie, Tony Prince and Alan Pulverness, Senior trainer Tom Sarney, NILE Online Academic Manager Johanna Stirling and Business Development Coordinator, Hanna Koren Furre.
The group really appreciated the opportunity to reflect from a critical distance on their own practice as ELT managers. And the NILE tutors enjoyed getting under the skin of another institution with a very different business profile but with whom we share a very similar professional ethos. And all this with a group of people who made the course a totally positive experience.
Comments from the group which capture some the atmosphere of a course that everyone felt was a pleasure to work on:
“a very useful course which fully met all our initial requirements, needs and requests”
“Inspiration and very positive emotions”
“a highly positive, creative and enjoyable atmosphere”
“Outstanding tutors, engaging delivery, exquisite language, personal attention”
“one of the most practical courses I’ve attended”
“The course gave me much more than I’d hoped for”
