As always in January, we welcomed a large group of trainee secondary teachers at Nile from Pädagogische Hochschule Steiermark in Graz, Austria. They spent two weeks with us, which included some initial language improvement work, working on their already excellent English, with Maria Byrne, John McMahon, Chris Rose and Susi Pearson, followed by 5 days in local secondary schools. They made a great contribution to their schools as you can see from the comments below, getting involved as much as possible in school life and even teaching some short lessons in their subjects or about Austria.

They had a busy social programme, which included the famous James Copeland Pub Quiz and a Comedy Night at Carrow Road Stadium, as well as a chance to hang out with some local seals on the Norfolk coast.

The course also included a special component of drama workshops given by NILE’s regular drama specialist, David Farmer, who will be co-directing our open enrolment August course on Literature and Drama in Language Teaching.

“It's been a pleasure having the trainees with us for the last few days. The students really enjoyed their lessons today and it has certainly opened up their eyes to Austria.”
