The Nile Experience
ELT at NILE is an all-round professional
development experience; our participants"live" the language, taking
their new skills from the classroom to real life. At NILE we understand
the importance of cultural and social immersion in language teacher
development. Our course participants really do "go native", with
a packed social programme, a historic setting for their professional
course and a choice of residential or homestay accommodation.
Social
Programme
Our Social Programme
team make participants feel at home through a schedule of activities
and trips, alongside classroom learning, workshops and guest speaker
talks. They will tailor-make an itinerary to
complement your studies,
taking a whistle-stop tour of British culture and society. You
might be welcomed with drinks at a local pub, take a quintessentially
English afternoon tea, sample fish and chips and have a farewell
dinner at one of Norwich's many fine restaurants. Further afield,
your stay might include a trip to the historic city of Cambridge,
a day at the seaside on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, or
a busy day of sightseeing in London.

Norwich
Norwich is a cultural and
commercial centre in the East of England steeped in history. There's
a Norman castle and cathedral, winding cobbled streets, a state-of-the-art
library and fantastic shopping and cultural facilities. It's an
ideal setting for ELT training; the mix of past and present gives
our participants a first-hand insight into British heritage and
culture, a vital elements in an English teacher's professional
background.

Accommodation
Accommodation, too, is
a big part of the NILE experience. You'll be given a choice of
homestay with a local, specially-selected host or a self-catering,
en suite study bedroom at the University of East Anglia (for courses
in June, July, August and September only). Homestay is a great
way of getting a privileged insight into British life with great
opportunities for language practice. Residential accommodation
at the UEA gives students the chance to sample campus life at
a British university and to meet other NILE students.
