What is the cost of homestay accommodation and what is included in the cost?

In 2008, half-board homestay accommodation is available from £126.00 (€189.00) per week and includes bed, breakfast and evening meal. Homestay accommodation offers a single study bedroom with a carefully chosen host. We aim to match the interests and needs of our students with the facilities offered by the host and we take into account any special requirements or dietary needs of individual students.

Homestay accommodation offers the benefit of an all-round cultural experience - which has been enjoyed by many of our students already - and also offers extended opportunities for language practice.

What is residential accommodation for NILE's courses in Norwich, and what does it cost?

Residential accommodation is available at the University of East Anglia in Norwich at certain times of year. Self-catering accommodation is in a single study bedroom with its own shower room. The rooms are arranged in groups of 8 or 10 and each group shares a fully-equipped kitchen.

The occupants of the other rooms will all be NILE course participants. Food and meals are not included in the cost but there is a small supermarket on the campus and a large one nearby, and meals are available cheaply at restaurants on the campus. Each group of 8 or 10 rooms also shares a common room.

What is included in the standard social programme?

Each course provides a social programme of weekend and evening activities.

For our Norwich courses this may include evenings at the cinema, theatre, a magical evening of storytelling, a trip on the river and the Norfolk Broads (man-made lakes and waterways near Norwich), or visiting one of our many pubs to sample the local ale!

At weekends we visit places such as Cambridge and London (depending on the length of the course), take walks around the North Norfolk coast where you can relax and unwind, or alternatively take in the splendour of one of Norfolk’s old manor houses and enjoy afternoon tea.

Whatever the weather and whatever the activity you can be sure that there will be something for everyone to enjoy in Norwich.

Do I need insurance?

NILE cannot accept responsibility for the loss or theft of your money or valuables so please ensure that you have adequate insurance.

If you are ill during the period of the course you will be able to see your host family’s doctor or dentist, or the University doctor or dentist if you are staying in residential accommodation, and everything will be done to make sure that you are looked after. Please ensure that you have adequate insurance to cover your needs, particularly if you come from a non-EU country.

Before you arrive in Britain we strongly recommend that you arrange your own insurance or that you take out the insurance offered by NILE (with End sleigh Insurance), to cover medical expenses, personal property, and reimbursement of fees in the case cancellation or curtailment (early departure) of your period of study due to accident or illness.

The insurance offered by NILE is available at a cost of around £6 per week and the insurance premium should be paid with payment of the deposit (cover for reimbursement of fees starts from the date of payment of the premium). For full details of the insurance cover which NILE is able to offer please contact the Registrar registrar@nile-elt.com.
